It’s My Birthday….Welcome, “Equus Regis”!

I’ll bet this title already has you wondering what I’m thinking. (smile)  I know my birthday literally now is a full two weeks away, but I found a piece on Amazon yesterday that I have decided will be my gift to myself!!  I wanted to start writing about this right away, even though I have not even actually purchased it yet!! (ha,ha,ha,ha)

Okay….it’s a bit later in the evening now, and I went ahead and pulled the trigger on that piece, and placed the order for it.  According to the Amazon order status, I should actually have “Equus Regis” (Latin for Kingly Horse or Horse King….I Love it!!) arrive somewhere between Aug 31st and Sept. 7th!!  That would be a nice bit of “icing on the cake”.  I’m really happy….”Equus Regis” is 11 ½ inches tall.  Definitely it will be the centerpiece item in my “Run like the Wind” series.

It also will be the last horse that I will be looking to add for a good, good while I think!!  When “Equus” arrives, I will have 17 horses in the collection!!  Time for me to think about coolin’ out on buying more Horses.  I also have 16 Elephants, 16 Big Cats (4 of which are Lions), and 16 assorted Birds, (6 of which are Eagles)!!  So unless I run across those pieces that standout because of their “unique poses or sculpturing”, I won’t be on the lookout to purchase more of those anytime soon!!

I found this item on Amazon, and its cost was a bit more than I wanted to spend initially for a piece like this.  I was able to get a nice discount from the seller of the item who indicated that this was the last one they had in their store. I got anxious that someone would purchase it out from under me.  I loved the colors in the piece, and the idea of losing an item like that one was disturbing to me!!

Gotta tell you my more complete thoughts now. (smile)  I’m really happy with how much my collection is growing, as I now have about (although I really should actually count them) 200 pieces, perhaps more.  I’m looking in the Glass Curio, and it’s starting to look pretty doggone crowded on the shelves.  I never really thought I would see it this way, but it’s starting to look a bit cluttered to tell the truth.  The elegance of having all these “pretty, sparkling crystal” items is in having them displayed nicely in an area where they each can be appreciated (if only for a moment) as the individually unique items they are….whether as part of a “themed” presentation / grouping or not.

It’s now becoming apparent that I’d better start giving some thought to 1) purchasing another bookcase to display pieces “on or in”.  Or 2) stopping my hunt for more pieces for the collection in general!!  An idea that is starting to bum me out!!  BUT….I don’t want my collection to start looking “like a bunch of junk”.  I’m gonna stop at this point for now….will pick up again in a few days!!

Oh my goodness….I’ve just been blown away!!  There was a package outside my door this morning when I came home from a quick run to my Dollar Tree Store…. and I was totally stunned to open it and see that “Equus Regis” had arrived!! (ha,ha,ha)  Here I was not even remotely looking for it until at least August 31st, and apparently the seller thought enough to send it Priority mail to me!!  I did not even have to pay shipping costs!!  Man, it is absolutely beautiful too.  I’m gonna photograph it tomorrow, just ‘cause I’m too lazy to do it right now.  It actually looks like it could be a trophy of some sort.  It’s really nice.  I’m so-o-o-o happy to have received it so quickly….WOW!! (smile)

I find myself now looking on the “Run like the Wind” shelf in the curio display, and I’m feeling very much like this piece should truly be a stand-alone….or at least be perhaps featured with a couple of other horses, but not inside the curio.  I think too, my concern is that it might be a bit too heavy to sit on the glass shelf.  I could not be more pleased to have acquired this piece for my collection. (smile)  This definitely makes up for the couple of bits of melancholy I felt after having made my two runs to “Cali”, and not finding anything that I wanted to add to my collection.  At any rate there’s not much more to add to this particular installment, so I guess I will bring this to a close.  I think there’s some thinking I’ll be doing about how I will be displaying future pieces.  I guess that’s a pretty nice dilemma to have huh?? (smile)
