Ain’t nothin’ but a Stag Party…

The first deer sculpture I found was this “Sentinel Stag” and I think it was a Princess House piece. Now I’ll admit Jodie, that I had thoughts of calling it “Bambi” something or other, but inasmuch as I do refer to my pieces as “glass sculptures” rather than “figurines”, I had to make my reference have a bit more testosterone!! (ha,ha,ha,ha,ha) So-o-o-o, this deer was going to be a sentinel for the rest of the flock.

I think without a doubt, that when I had the good fortune to find the “Stag Head” piece I was blown away….it reminded me so much of the Horse Heads that are among my favorite items. This bust, standing 8-inches tall to the tip of the antlers, makes one immediately think of the always impressive Knight Chess pieces because of the way they are often presented as works of art.

I’m telling you Jodie I love this doggone sculpture. No, it’s not a Big Cat….no it’s not a Horse Head…and no, it’s not one of my Eagles, BUT….it is absolutely one of the most treasured pieces in the entire collection!!

The smaller sort of prancing deer, the” Young Buck”, is a nice sculpture because he’s in a more animated pose, not as static as the others quite frankly. The addition of the frosted tree just helped me envision these animals perhaps in a forest environment. The stars of this diorama are definitely the Stag Head and the Sentinel.
